The Common Walnut grows to heights of 30 meters. It is exceptionally found in the Fontainebleau Forest. Native to the Balkans, it is commonly found throughout all of France.
Walnut wood is homogeneous and can be used for wood-slicing, cabinet making and wood carving. It produces good firewood and valued charcoal. Walnut flesh can be eaten fresh and is commonly used in pastries, confectionery and sweet-meats.
Der Walnussbaum erreicht 30 m Höhe und ist im Wald von Fontainebleau eher die Ausnahme. Er stammt ursprünglich vom Balkan und ist überall in Frankreich anzutreffen.
Sein homogenes Holz kann zur Furnierherstellung, in der Möbeltischlerei und für Schnitzarbeiten verwendet werden. Der Baum liefert ein gutes Brennholz und sehr geschätzte Holzkohle. Die Walnuss wird in der Süß- und Konditoreiwarenherstellung verwendet.

Son bois homogène peut être utilisé en tranchage, ébénisterie et sculpture. C’est un bon combustible, donnant un charbon estimé. L’amande, comestible fraîche, de sa noix est utilisée en confiserie et en pâtisserie. |
