After having hibernated inside Sallow tree trunks, the caterpillar stays there through April and May. The adult is quite remarkable as is obvious from its name: its red-tipped wings are so clear that they appear diaphanous. The adult flies in May and August.
This species is visible in the marshes of Larchant.
