This Beetle is 15 to 20 mm long. It is found outdoors as well as in houses, bakeries and storehouses where the destruction wreaks has turned it into a formidable pest. The Yellow Mealworm Beetle larva develops in flour and meal, as its name indicates, or other foodstuffs such as bran. The grubs are raised as food for birds, reptiles and amphibians in zoos and vivariums. This species is prevalent year round.

Länge 15 bis 20 mm. Man findet ihn überall in der Natur, aber auch in menschlichen Wohnungen, in Bäckereien und in Lagerhallen, wo er als Schädling unerwünscht ist. Die "Mehlwürmer" genannten Larven entwickeln sich in Mehl oder anderen Nahrungsmitteln wie beispielsweise Kleie. Man züchtet sie als Futtermittel für Vögel, Reptilien, Lurche in Zoos und Terrarien. Die Art ist das ganze Jahr über präsent.

Long de 15 à 20 mm, on le trouve partout dans la nature et aussi dans les habitations, les boulangeries et entrepôts où il devient indésirable par ses dégâts. Les larves nommées "vers de farine" se développent dans les farines ou autres denrées comme le son. On les élève pour nourrir les oiseaux, reptiles, amphibiens dans les zoos et vivariums. Espèce courante toute l’année.
