It is 15 to 28 mm long. Larvae and adults live in the branches of broad-leaved trees, feeding on caterpillars, particularly those of Oak Processionary Caterpillars. It can be observed from May to June in numbers corresponding to the abundance of their preys.

Länge 15 bis 28 mm. Käfer wie Larve leben auf den Ästen von Laubbäumen, wo sie Jagd auf Raupen, insbesondere jene des Eichenprozessionsspinners machen. Man begegnet ihm je nach Beutevorkommen von Mai bis Juni mehr oder weniger häufig.

Long de 15 à 28 mm, l’adulte, comme les larves, vit sur les branches des et feuillus à la recherche de chenilles, notamment les processionnaires du Chêne. On le voit de mai à juin, plus ou moins abondant, selon la pullulation des proies.
